Marys Biography
I came to Suffolk from London in 1976 when my father, a manager at Willis Faber and Dumas, moved to the great black glass building in Ipswich. My parents bought a bungalow in Playford Rd. and I lived there until I married at St Andrew’s in 1988. My husband and I moved to mid Suffolk, but saw the error of our ways and moved back, with our three young children, in 2000, buying a house on Martlesham Heath.
I currently work at Stennett’s Community Cafe in Trimley St Mary, where I support adults with learning disabilities. In my “spare” time I am clerk to the trustees of The Ipswich Blue Coat Foundation, secretary of Ipswich Arts Association, a bell ringer, a singer and a prodigious maker of cakes. I worship at St Andrew’s and am currently acting organist as well as a member of the Parochial Church Council.
I have been a member of the Parish Council since the end of 2022. I am delighted that the Church and the Parish Council came together to celebrate the Coronation, and I hope that it will be the start of a long partnership seeking the common good for the inhabitants of Rushmere.
Other interesting facts – I quite like hugging big beautiful trees.
